Why are the British people so apathetic?

It's not just British people. We buy chinese products because they tend to be cheaper, we are at the mercy of utility companies until there is compitition or the home owner can provide their own energy. Governments have always lied, it's about telling the people what they want to hear to get elected, then the reality of cutting deals that are not in the general publics best interest. With the internet, it is harder for retailers to rob the consumer and the consumer can now do research on the product and compare prices. While this is advantages, there are still consumers who buy compulsively or don't use the internet to become an informed consumer.
