My 2 1/2 year old is still on the pacifier!!! Experienced moms advice please!!!?

I had this problem with my son. One day I had a talk with him, (small one cause he won't sit still long) and told him that he is a big boy now and big boys/girls don't need a pacifier. I took the pacifiers and gave them to him. We walked to the trash can and he threw them away one by one saying bye bye to each one. Then when they were all gone I made a very big deal of how proud i was of him for doing that. Then for the next two nights he wanted his pacifiers but i sat down and talked to him for a minute and reminded him of how he is a big boy and doesn't need them anymore. Then i left him in his room with his stuffed dog, and after 10 minutes of fussing he went to sleep. This took about a week of doing and he hasn't needed a pacifier since. Just be patient and you and her will be fine. Good luck!
