Are their forums available for platonic online friendships?

I'm frustrated by the amount of /chat proposals I find in basic yahoo forums, and like chat venues. I just want some intelligent conversation, and friendship, without the drama, or the so many seem to be seeking. I'm happily married, and not interested in dating sites, but want to connect with like-minded men and women. I'm involved in Yahoo Groups, but still find meeting new people quite like waking up in a singles bar and wondering what the hell happened! Any ideas?
